Programme Development Director
Dr. Ionel Naftanaila is EDAA’s Programme Development Director and brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. Ionel also has a strong training and teaching experience combined with technical expertise. As Business and Technology Director at the Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe, Ionel has been driving efforts to establish the EDAA and increase industry awareness of the European Self-Regulatory Programme and principles for OBA. Before joining the EDAA, he managed a company that developed and maintained AdServers and AdExchanges with OBA in Southeastern Europe. Previously, Ionel worked in the online industry, managing a company developing web applications and sites. Ionel also has a strong academic background and teaches management with key focus on IT and project management at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. He holds a PhD in Economics Studies from Bucharest University and HEC Montreal, Canada.
Director of Operations
David Barron works for the EDAA as Director of Operations, bringing with him valuable experience of advertising self-regulation through his work at the European Advertising Standards Alliance since early 2011. In this capacity, David played an instrumental role in shaping the EU Self-Regulatory Programme for Online Behavioural Advertising, particularly regarding the set-up of the EDAA and its operations to-date. In addition, David has a particular interest in, and knowledge of the functioning of national self-regulatory organisations. Having worked on several important self-regulatory issues, David has developed a broad knowledge of effective self-regulation in multiple sectors which is a considerable asset to EDAA in further rolling out the Programme. David graduated from the University of Bristol in 2010, where he read Modern Languages (French and Italian).
Giorgio La Rosa
Industry Relations & Compliance Coordinator
Giorgio La Rosa is the EDAA’s Industry Relations & Compliance Coordinator, and brings a keen personal interest and deep knowledge of Digital Single Market policy with him. Prior to joining the EDAA team, Giorgio completed an internship at the European Parliament, in the office of the Italian MEP Barbara Matera, where he was responsible for following policy approaches towards the General Data Protection Regulation, the proposed e-Privacy regulation and the cyber related issues. Giorgio is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, he holds an LLM in Law from the University of Catania (Italy) and carried out research for his Master’s thesis on European and International Law at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany). Giorgio speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Communications and Projects
Federica Detomas is EDAA’s Communications and Projects intern. She graduated in a double degree programme at the Universities of Padua (Italy) and Wrocław (Poland), where she specialised in Human Rights and International Relations. Before joining EDAA, Federica did an internship at the European Parliament, at the Directorate for Legislative and Committee Coordination (DG IPOL). During this experience, and in particular by monitoring the INGE Committee she had the chance to understand some of the challenges of online advertising and the link between transparency and user trust, and to increase her interest in the subject.
Federica speaks English, Italian, German and Ladin.
